Job Description
Big Ray’s is seeking a Sporting Goods Manager to lead our department in a dynamic, hybrid capacity. This role serves as a critical link between daily retail operations and strategic procurement, working in close partnership with our buying team. You will take full ownership of departmental performance—driving sales, elevating the customer experience, and maintaining excellence in merchandising and freight flow.
Beyond the sales floor, you will be responsible for operational integrity, ensuring 100% inventory accuracy and strict adherence to ATF/FFL regulatory standards. As a technical expert with a passion for the Alaskan outdoors, you will act as a brand ambassador, ensuring Big Ray’s consistently meets the unique needs of our local community.
This position is non-supervisory, reporting to the Store Manager(s) & Senior Buyer. This position requires frequent standing, walking, use of stairs, speaking and hearing.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Two years of experience in retail, sporting goods, business, or related industry.
- Knowledgeable about hunting/fishing/outdoors in Alaska
- Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional customer service.
- Demonstrated ability to stage products and market the merchandise.
- Above average skills in money management/budgeting.
- Above average skills in planning and organizing.
- Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
- Basic computer skills and digital communication: Outlook, Teams, Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing a firearms department, including ATF compliance and FFL regulation

We offer a competitive wage ranging from $23-$26 per hour depending on experience, paid holidays, a 401(k) option, medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, and employee discount.
