Job Description
At Big Ray’s, our business is our customer—not just our products. We are looking for professional and attentive Customer Service Representatives who understand that exceptional service is the foundation of our success. In this role, you aren't just processing transactions; you are a consultant for our community, helping Alaskans find the right gear for their next adventure.
Essential responsibilities:
- Customer Engagement: Greet customers in person and over the phone, taking the time to understand their specific needs and suggesting the best merchandise solutions.
- Product Knowledge: Maintain up-to-date expertise on our inventory, current sales, and promotions to effectively demonstrate product features.
- Sales Processing: Accurately handle transactions and various forms of payment using our computer system, including managing special orders.
- Merchandising & Stocking: Ensure sales floor standards are impeccably maintained by retrieving, stocking, and organizing merchandise from various inventory locations.
- Order Fulfillment: Efficiently package and process mail order shipments.
- Loss Prevention: Monitor the sales floor to recognize and prevent security risks or theft.
Depending on experience level:
- Store Open & Close: counting tills, securing the building, and arming security systems.
- Person In Charge (PIC) duties: training new employees; handling minor customer or employee issues as a stand-in for management.
This is a non-supervisory position reporting to the Store Manager(s). This position requires frequent standing, walking, use of stairs, speaking and hearing.
Qualifications
- Ability to provide exceptional customer service.
- Ability to process tender, data, and information with accuracy.
- Excellent communication skills, in-person, over the phone, or in writing.
- Ability to learn about and utilize technology/computer applications needed to perform job duties.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- 1-5 years of customer service experience.
- 1-5 years of retail or other comparable industry experience.
- Personal interest or experience in hunting, fishing, camping, or working outdoors in Alaska.
- Basic computer skills and digital communication: Microsoft 365 programs.

We offer a competitive wage ranging from $15-$24 per hour depending on experience, paid holidays, a 401(k) option, medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, and employee discount.
